twentelogoThe Water Engineering and Management Group at the University of Twente is looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate who is interested in numerical modelling of the biogeomorphological functioning and development of salt marsh ecosystems. The aim of this project is to quantify the temporal evolution of the contribution of biodiverse, dynamic salt marshes to pollution filtering and coastal protection in the Wadden Sea. This position is part of the German-Dutch-Danish SALTGARDEN project: Sustainable Adaptive Landscapes through Transdisciplinary Gardening to Advance the Resilience and Dynamics of our Ecological Natural‐heritage. In the SALTGARDEN project we aim to develop Nature-based Gardening strategies that balance human interventions and ecological self-regulation, enabling adaptive landscapes with biodiverse and dynamic salt marshes in the Wadden Sea.
