On October 16 NCK and NCR jointly organize a knowledge-sharing day focused on the intersection of river and coastal dynamics: specifically, the Rhine Meuse estuary and the latest insights into the salt and sediment balances within this system that have emerged from recent research programs SALTI Solutions and Rivers2Morrow.
We will address the questions:
- How well do we understand the sediment balance and salt fluxes in the RMM area and;
- How does this knowledge contribute to questions in river and coastal management and climate adaptation?
Based on presentations from a science perspective (Ymkje Huismans Deltares, Thijs van Kessel Deltares, Jana Cox UU, Iris Niesten WUR, Rutger Siemes UTwente and Gijs Hendrickx TUDelft ) and from policy and maintenance practice (Pim Neefjes RWS-WNZ and Lennart Keyzer Port of Rotterdam) we initiate the discussion on this topic and aim to bridge the gap between science and practice.
