ICE Coastal Management 2019

The ninth event in Institution of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) renowned Coastal Management series will gather delegates from around the world to focus on new approaches to coastal engineering that integrate planning and ‘place-shaping’ to encourage bold adaptation to coastal change, and that balance environmental and community concerns.

ICE’s Coastal Management conferences are recognised for focus on current issues, research and practical application. The 2019 event now seeks papers on top international coastal projects that offer practical learning, innovative and integrated solutions, and encourage new approaches to engineering that integrate planning and ‘place-shaping’ to encourage bold adaptation to coastal change, and that balance environmental and community concerns.

SUGGESTED TOPICS
• The link between engineering and social, economic and environmental improvement
• How engineers can work with those outside the profession to find long term solutions
• The benefits of clear and confident decision making
• Integrating local infrastructure into the broader coastal management picture
• How coastal management issues can be used to drive positive changes
• How better coastal management can bring about economic, environmental and community benefits
• Managing the impact of change upon those it affects

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Abstracts are currently invited for ICE Coastal Management 2019, and submission is open until 12 October 2018 via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. An abstract must be no longer than two pages of A4 and in English. It should clearly and concisely outline the material being proposed for presentation. It should also identify the subject area and the author’s perspective; define if it’s a case study or report of new research, and whether it contains information about unusual methods or new techniques. It should confirm what the conclusions of the paper will be, highlighting their importance. Submissions will be reviewed by the Steering Committee, and authors will be notified in November 2018 whether they have been selected for the conference. Successful authors must then submit a draft paper to be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. For more details visit ice.org.uk/coastal2019.
