On the 18th of September, the NCK community will gather online to discuss the 'hot topic' of plastic pollution in rivers, seas, oceans and living organisms. We aim to give a broad overview of the topic, reflected by the wide range in subjects of the presentations. We will exchange knowledge on the transport processes of plastics in rivers, seas and oceans and the link of plastic pollution in sediment and living organisms.
Due to the Corona measures, this NCK themeday will be held online.
The programme is as follows:
13:30 - 13:40 | Welcome |
13:40 - 13:55 | Bart Koelmans (WUR): An introduction to plastics and the environment |
13:55 - 14:10 | Tim van Emmerik (WUR): Riverine macroplastics and how to find them |
14:10 - 14:25 | Frans Buschman (Deltares): Transport of microplastics from Dutch rivers to the sea |
